Nepal pick four players for Youth Olympic Games

Untitled Document KATHMANDU: Nepal will field four players three athletes and a taekwondo player in the first Youth Asian Games to be held in Singapore from August 14-26 informed Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) here today.

Athletes Tilak Ram Tharu (100m), Manisha Adhikari (400m) and Bishwo Rupa Budha (3,000m) along with taekwondo player Ranjan Shrestha will represent Nepal in the tournament, the NOC said. The NOC has nominated Hari Bahadur Rokaya as the athletics coach and Deep Raj Gurung as taekwondo coach. The NOC also granted associate membership to Cricket Association of Nepal and Nepal Chess Association.

Meanwhile, the NOC formed a seven member 16th Asian Games slated for November 12-27 in Guangzhou, China preparation committee under NOC General Secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha. Upendra Keshari Neupane, Deep Raj Gurung, Sunil Lal Joshi, Deepak Bista, Sandhya Shakya and Ratna Saud are the members of the committee.

Likewise, the executive committee of NOC has also decided to organise Sports Congress on September 17 and 18. The NOC is also organising a one-day workshop of Olympians, athlete seminar and media

seminar this year. The NOC has also decided to provide founder president of Non-Resident Nepali Association Upendra Mahato with the NOC honorary membership.
